Sacred Space
Preparation. Set some time aside when you know you won't be disturbed. 20-30mins ish. Create a small alter with a candle and a few items which resonate. Items which reflect the feelings of love. Whatever comes to mind. (When I first did this I included a little plastic yellow duck that one of my kids had in the bath. Represented lightness and happiness and much much unconditional love.) Prepare your space by setting a general intention that this ceremony is for the highest and best for all concerned. Maybe play a little music which feels appropriate. Clear the energy of the space by either taking the lit candle to the four corners of the room, or if you have it, some sage or incense. I always smudge my space with sage before working with clients. Whatever feels appropriate with what you have to hand. There's never a right or wrong with these things, the power of your intention and what is in your heart is what matters. |
The sacred space audio contains the prayer and then c.15 mins of me drumming.
The prayer calls upon the four directions of South, West, North and East, Mother Earth, Father Sun
South.....Serpent
West.......Jaguar
North....Hummingbird
East.......Eagle and Condor
Mother Earth
Father Sun, Grandmother Moon and all the Star Nations
With each section create images for each.
Here is the Sacred Space Prayer. Spend a few moments on each section.
To the winds of the South
Great Serpent
Wrap your coils of light around us
Teach us how to shed the past the way you shed your skin
And show us the beauty way
Aho
To the winds of the West
Mother Jaguar
Protect our medicine space
Show us how to live with truth, honesty and authenticity
And show us the way beyond death
Aho
To the winds of the North
Hummingbird
Grandfathers and Grandmothers
All the ancient ones
Come warm your hands by our fire
Whisper to us on the wind
We honor all those who've come before us
And all those who're yet to come, our children's children
Aho
To the winds of the East
Great Eagle, Condor
Come to us from the land of the rising sun
Keep us under your wing
Show us the mountains we only dare to dream about
And teach us to fly wing to wing with the Great Spirit
Aho
To Mother Earth
We pray for the healing of all your children
The stone people, the plant people
The two legged, the four legged, the creepy crawlers
The finned, the furred, the winged ones
All our relations
Aho
To Father Sun, Grandmother Moon and all the Star Nations
And to the Great Spirit, you who's known by a thousand names
And yet you who is the unnameable one
And to those in spirit, other realms
Angels, archangels
Ascended Masters, wise ones, shamans and healers
And also those who knew us in this lifetime or maybe previous lifetimes
Thank you for joining us here today
And for allowing us to sing this song of life another day
Aho
I've had many amazing experiences working in the sacred space that this creates.
We begin with the South Direction. Traditionally each direction begins with a rattle but you can use anything.... a box of matches..... a container with some lentils or something similar, anything that makes a rattly sound... lol. Stand facing the South and read that verse finishing with 'Aho' which is the native American Indian for 'So it was, so it is and so it will be'. Then turn to face the West and read that verse, then the North and the East. Mother Earth is next so bend down and touch the floor, feeling your connection with her, feel her love for you as you read the verse. Finally look up to the sky for Father Sun.
Sacred Space is now open and you can go on to do whatever meditation or process you have decided to do.
When you've finished spend a few moments in a state of gratitude and thankfulness.... to yourself for your courage and to all those who've helped you. Feel their love and compassion for you.
Then when you're ready bring your awareness back to the room and your surroundings and notice a big smile on your face and love in your heart.
Close the sacred space by acknowledging each direction in turn. Sending your thanks and gratitude. South, West, North, East, Mother Earth, Father Sun.
Finish with a grounding visualisation and maybe even take a shower or find somewhere outside where you can stand on grass or sand and feel Mother Earth beneath your feet. It's up to you.
If you need any clarification on any of this, give me a shout.
Much love
